- ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY
Elizabeth Coulson was born in Sydney on 11 September 1814. Her father, Hugh McDonald was quartermaster of the 46th Regiment which arrived in the colony in February 1814. (See Australian Dictionary of Biography, v. 2, p. 162-3). Her godfather was Governor Macquarie. She married Thomas Coulson, a Hunter Valley settler on 6 November 1832.
