  • General note

    Souvenir [of Sydney] was probably printed in Hamburg, and is based on late 1850s photographs by William Hetzer (cf. B. Groom & W. Wickman, "Sydney - the 1850s" ML ref: Ref 1/Q994.41031) and engravings in F. Terry [Fleury], "Landscape Scenery", 1855. One of the vignettes, 'Pitt Street, from Hunter St. Looking North', shows a horse drawn tram which was extant only between 1861 and 1865.
