Richard (`Dick') Gilbert Lee emigrated to New South Wales from Yorkshire, England in 1927 and worked on farms in the central western region. He had a glandular deficiency, referred to as a `sleeping disease', which precluded him from joining the army when the Second World War began, but he spent six years in auxiliary service. In 1940 he moved to Hobart (Tas.) and married Jean [?]. They had six children.
