    The captions are handwritten, mostly in German, and almost certainly by Paula David, whose name is on the fly-leaf and whose writing has been compared to the diary of Paula David (ML B 1570) by Mr. Cummins, Mitchell Library client, in 1978.

    German captions were translated by Mr. Otto Neumann, volunteer, Pictures Section, Nov. 1989.

    The Paula David diary, May 1887 - Jan. 1897, at B 1570, is copied on the same preservation microfilm reel (CY 4850, frames 1-85).

  • Signatures / Inscriptions

    "To Bob from Arthur, Dec 28th 1893 `For Auld Lang Syne'" on reverse of front cover.
