  • General note

"The mural was a collective effort. Conceived by Rod Shaw in 1953, it was painted over a nearly decade by a number of artists. In 1991, when the Waterside Workers' Federation Sydney Branch's building was sold, the mural was transferred from the walls of the canteen at 60 Sussex Street, Sydney to the union's new offices at 61-63 Sussex Street, Sydney". This, and further information about the mural is available in: A Tapestry of Australia: The Sydney Wharfies Mural by Andrew Reeves. Waterside Workers Federation Sydney Port : Sydney, 1992
