  • General note

These lithographs and title wrappers were engraved and printed in Sydney in the early 1860s. Alexander Walker Scott decided, however, that it was not possible to have the lithographs properly hand coloured in Australia and so sent the prints to London in 1863: see letter from A. W. Walker to John Van Voorst, 23 March 1863, filed at As 148 (Item 1), Mitchell Library Manuscripts.
Some of the orginal drawings for the lithographs are held by the Australian Museum: see Marion Ord, Historical drawings of Moths and Butterflies, (1988) - Mitchell Library location Q709.94/49
