Percy Benison, 1881-1972, was a cartoonist who worked for several Sydney newspapers and for the Bulletin. He created the 'Billy Koala' and 'Blackie' cartoon strips. During the 1920s Benison designed pantomime costumes for J.C. Williamson. In the 1930s he became the advertising manager for Richard Hudnut and William R. Warner, a company which produced beauty and medical products.
