    This collection contains 179 lantern slides divided into 4 groups:

    Group A
    Boxes 1-2 / Items 1-43
    Contains 43 slides and includes James Chalmers [Tamate] and the inhabitants of Rarotonga, Cook Island and depicts the impression the missionaries made on the islanders. There is a slide of the last entry in Chalmers diary and one of the gravestone of James Chalmers [d.1901], his wife Sarah Eliza Harrison [d.1900] and the Rev. Oliver Fellows Tomkins

    Group B
    Boxes 2-4 / Items 44-98
    Contains a series of 55 slides about 'David Livingstone - missionary, traveller, philanthropist' and his work in Africa

    Group C
    Boxes 5-6 / Items 99-142
    Contains 44 slides including Port Moresby, Elevara and New Guinea, the Mailu Mission House and the interiors of several local churches

    Group D
    Boxes 6-8 / Items 143-179
    Contains 37 slides of people, places and activities in the Gilbert Islands
