Attributed by comparison with other works held in the Mitchell Library collections: portraits of Dr. Robert Townson (ZML 241), Captain John Piper (ZML 6), Mrs. Piper and children (ZML 672) and John Mackaness (ZML 710), which have been suggested as being by Earle in the Pictures Card Catalogue
