The collection includes photographs of views in New South Wales which appear to be associated with the work of Robert FitzGerald, and which may have been taken by him. Some of the family photographs are by Kathleen FitzGerald.
Robert FitzGerald was the son of Robert David Fitzgerald, 1830-1892; Robert FitzGerald worked as Engineer, Department of Public Works (cf. manuscript letter, signed Robert FitzGerald, ML MSS 5584).

Some views shown in the glass negatives are the same as, or similar to those shown in photograph albums (PXB 279) received with the FitzGerald collection of photographs.
