  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Anna Josepha King, 1765-1844, who had married Philip Gidley King in 1791, remained in England after his death until 1832 when she returned to New South Wales with her son Phillip Parker King. She had received a land grant from Governor Bligh in a later disputed transfer, and settled at Parramatta with her daughter Anna Maria Macarthur.

    ca. 1810-ca. 1826; Letters received, mainly concerning her son. Correspondents include Admiral Samuel Hood, Sir Edward Pellew and Alexander Riley with a letter to P. P. King from Riley, together with a wrapper addressed to Mrs King in London, 31 Dec. 1818 (Call No.: MLMSS 4530/1/17-20)
