  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Edward Searle was a professional photographer who worked for J. W. Beattie in Hobart from 1911-1915. From 1928-1938 he was employed by the photographic studio of Hall & Co., Sydney. In the late 1920s he began taking aerial photographs and became a pioneeer of aerial surveying in Australia. In 1932 he was appointed official aerial photographer for the opening of Sydney Harbour Bridge. During World War II he opened his Portrait and Commercial Studios in Broadway, Sydney.

    Allan Searle, also a professional photographer, was Edward Searle's son.
