- ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY
The story reflects the interests of the sisters' father, John Rentoul, Professor of New Testament Greek Literature at Ormond College, University of Melbourne, and of his friend, Professor Thomas George Tucker, who was appointed Professor of Classical Philology at the University of Melbourne in 1885. Annie Rentoul took a first class Honours degree in 1905 at the university and won the Wyselaskie scholarship in Classics. At the time of their collaboration Ida, who illustrated the work, was fourteen and Annie, who wrote the story, was twenty. One of the illustrations depicts Professor Tucker in Greek costume. - Copying ConditionsCopyright status:: In copyright
