The Linnean Society of New South Wales was founded in 1874 to stimulate interest in all branches of the science of natural history. Its first members were recrutied from the then extinct Entomological Society of New South Wales. Its first president and benefactor was Sir William John Macleay. The centenary of the Society was celebrated with the opening of the `Linnean Society Exhibition of Historical Material' on Friday, October 25th 1974 at the Mitchell Library. - System of arrangementThis collection comprises 2 record series.
