Brian Davies was born in 1949 in Sydney. Admitted as a barrister in 1979, he served on two Royal Commissions. He was Official Secretary to the Governor of New South Wales from 1996-2009 and from 2012-2015, serving under Gordon Samuels, Marie Bashir and David Hurley. He received the honour of Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) from the Queen at Windsor Castle in 2016.
