The letters describe voyages to the Solomon, Gilbert and Marshall Islands on the Tambo August-Dec. 1914, medical checks at Liverpool camp 21 Dec. 1914 after enlisting 14 Dec. 1914, the voyage to Egypt on the Seeang Bee, Feb. 1915, the grounding of the Seang Bee on a reef 17 Feb. 1914, shore leave in Colombo, hospitalisation with influenza and malaria in Cairo Apr. 1915, convalescence in Australia May 1915, voyage back to Egypt on the Argyllshire Oct. 1915, arriving in Cairo 5 Nov. 1915, activities with the 13th battalion in Egypt and voyage to France, June 1916. Ends with letter informing his mother Mrs J. A. B Fry of his death, 14 Aug. 1916 and a letter of condolence on his death, 28 Jan. 1917
