    Sydney Thomas Thompson, farmer of Bibbenluke, New South Wales, was born in Cooma, Monaro and enlisted in the A.I.F. aged 26 years. He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A58 Kabinga, 12 Sept. 1916 and served with the 12th Light Horse Regiment, 12th Reinforcement in Egypt. He transferred to the 4th Light Horse Regiment 24 Feb. 1917, was hospitalised with malaria in Abbassia, Nov. 1918 and was invalided to Australia on HT Lancashire, 19 Feb. 1919

    Photocopy of manuscript of poem, "The way to victory : endure & fight" (3 pp.), "composed by Trooper S. T. Thompson, B. Squadron, 4th A.L.H. Reg. 4th Brigade A.I.F. Abroad. Written in the front line in the Jordan Valley. Sept 1918".
