- Scope and ContentAutograph book known as Miles Franklin's Waratah Book. The book has been used from both ends. One cover is embossed 'Writing Album'. Wise and Vida Goldstein. Many entries refer to Miles Franklin's success with My Brilliant Career. Some entries have been annotated by Miles Franklin with the death date of the writer. The other cover is inscribed 'The Book of the Waratah Cup'. This section was used as an autograph book for distinguished visitors to Miles Franklin's home at Carlton, NSW. Guests were invited to drink tea from the Waratah Cup (held in the Mitchell Library collection at SAFE/R 230a-b) and to write in the Waratah Book. This part of the book contains entries from 1944 to 1954, with two from 1904 and 1908. Writers include Jean Devanney, Nancy Cato, Nancy Keesing, Katharine Susannah Prichard, Henrietta Drake-Brockman, Beatrice Davis, Tom Inglis Moore and Pixie O'Harris. The book also includes a letter from Rose Scott, 24 August 1902, pasted onto page 1, and a poem and letter, 31 Jan. 1906, from S.W. Jephcott.
