- Scope and ContentIn this interview Marie starts her recount of an era which revolved around the Methodist Church, family life and being in a wealthy and socially influential family in Lewisham. She talks about her ‘Uncle Bertie’ (Sir Bertram Stevens) and of watching the cricket at the Sydney Cricket Ground with her father before World War II. Marie speaks about her education at Sydney Girls High and provides amusing anecdotes illustrating the era. Marie also discusses her training as a nurse at St George Hospital, Kogarah which was known at the time as a trauma hospital and describes the living and working conditions for female graduates.
