    Trent Zimmerman (1968- ) is a former Liberal Party politician who served in Local and Federal Government. He served as a Councillor on the North Sydney Council from 2004 to 2012. As an openly gay man elected to the Council, Trent and played a key role in advocating for LGBTI rights. He also served as Vice President of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association.

    In the 2015 Federal by-election, Trent succeeded Joe Hockey as the Liberal member for the electorate of North Sydney, becoming the first openly gay member of the House of Representatives in the Parliament of Australia. Zimmerman lost his seat to Teal independent Kylea Tink in 2022 Federal election.
