Mary Dorothy Osborne (1876-1963) was the daughter of Dapto-born pastoralist George Osborne and Sophia Ann Kathleen Towns. She was born on the Osborne family property, Foxlow Station, Bungendore, New South Wales. The recipe book was compiled soon after Osborne's 21st birthday and a few months before her marriage to Frederick Bushby Wilkinson on 23 September 1896 at St Thomas' Church, Molonglo.

Library correspondence file - Scope and Content272 paged notebook with first 68 pages filled with handwritten recipes and last 7 pages with newspaper clipping of recipes. The recipes are predominantly for cakes and desserts, with some meat and savoury dishes included. Some recipes include names from which the recipe was sourced, including Dr. Wadham, Throsby Park, Mina O'Hara, Bessie, Kate H.
