    Robert Darlow Pring was born in 1853 in Mangoplah, New South Wales. He was called to the Bar in 1874, where he became an expert in New South Wales land law. He was appointed Judge of the Supreme Court in 1902, served as Acting Chief Justice in 1918 and acted as sole commissioner for five Royal Commissions from 1914 to 1921, conducting inquiries into the State government's purchase of the Boorabil estate, the proposed State monopoly of the petrol industry and the administration of the State Wheat Office. He retired in June 1922 and died later that year.

  • Scope and Content
    Hardcover scrapbook containing correspondence and certificates of commission appointing Robert Darlow Pring as (Puisne) Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales (1902), as Acting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales (1918), and to act as sole Royal Commissioner for inquiries into the State government’s purchase of the Boorabil Estate, the "proposed acquisition of the business of the British Imperial Oil Company", and the administration of the State Wheat Office (1914-1921). Also contains Pring’s Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Sydney (1873, 1875).

    Inserted into the scrapbook are a photograph of Robert Darlow Pring (n.d.), newspaper clippings concerning Pring’s death in 1922, as well as an ‘In Memoriam’ from The King’s School Magazine.
