  A Cheery Soul is set in the fictional Sydney suburb of Sarsaparilla at the end of the 1950s. The play was first staged at the Union Theatre, Melbourne, in 1963. This signed poster was presented to Patrick White on opening night (17 January 1979) of the Sydney Theatre Company production directed by Jim Sharman.
