  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Bushfires ravaged the NSW South Coast region during late December 2019 and early January 2020. Conditions deteriorated drastically across the region on 30-31 December with thick smoke blocking sunlight and turning the sky red. Many people left their homes to flee to beaches and evacuation points. The main fire front impacted the area on 4-5 January 2020, with widespread loss of homes and property. Over 370,000 hectares were burnt in Eden and the adjoining area over this period.
