- Scope and ContentHideko talks of her ‘experience [of] the atomic bomb’ and reflects on the attitudes and expectations of women. She speaks about the shame of losing the war, her interrupted education during the war where she was sent to farms and factories to help manufacture parts for submarines. She recounts fleeing Kure, when it was bombed, and her experience of seeing the dark cloud of the ‘Atomic bomb’. Hideko recalls her exits from Japan and her memorable entry into Sydney harbour with her new husband and recounts her career path in Australia, including working for the Japanese Embassy in Sydney.
