  • Scope and Content
    The miscellaneous files are in alphabetical order from the 1960's through to 1971. They were kept in envelopes with either a subject title or a list of documents.
    The files cover financial transactions for art, cars and property, specifically Retford Park and Darling Point as well as others. Insurance for all of these is kept under "I" for insurance. There are correspondence files regarding the importation of art, cars and other items. There are meeting minutes for charity groups and universities, hospitals and other media companies.
    In item number 15 there is a Cash book and Cheque book belonging to W. O. Fairfax, which lists and details W. O. Fairfax account and his shared accounts with M. E. Stephen and P. H. Palmer.
    There are J. O. Fairfax personal files that hold correspondence from R. A. Henderson, Managing Director, on subjects ranging from ANT, Regional Press, Mr Packer. There is a Notice to Staff from Warwick Fairfax regarding the change from private to public ownership of John Fairfax & Sons Pty. Limited dated April 4 1956. Details of the appointment of Mr. C. Bingham 1 June 1961 as editor of the Sydney Morning Herald.
