  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Brothers Robert and Arthur Potts enlisted on the 18 September 1915 and were placed with the 13th Battalion, A.I.F. Both survived the war. Their cousin, James Potts enlisted on the 9 March 1915 and was placed with the 6th Light Horse Regiment. He died from his wounds on the 22 November 1917. David Albert (Bert) Cormie enlisted on the 12 December 1916 and was placed with the Camel Corps. His photograph indicates he was at the Menangle Camp where the Light Horse was camped and the Camel Corps practiced. He also served in the Citizen Military Forces during World War 1938-1945, which operated between 1938-1948.

    1. Mounted gelatin silver print of studio portrait of Arthur and Robert Potts, ca 1915. Photographer, Sidney Riley Studio, 251A Pitt Street, Sydney. Inscribed on verso: To Aunt and Uncle, with best wishes, from Pte. A. and R. Potts. (ie Arthur and Robert).

    2. Mounted gelatin silver print of Artie (Arthur) Potts, ca 1917. He has the strips of a sergeant. In envelope of photographer Sidney Barns, Town Hall Avenue, Bournemouth.

    3. Photographic postcard of James Potts, 1917. Inscribed on verso: This another one of dear Jim taken in London after 2 years of service, he was in good health when this taken and weighed 14 stone, from Pearle to Aunty Jane. James Couley Potts from Pearle Couley Potts.

    4. Photographic postcard of David Albert Cormie. Inscribed bottom right ‘Tpr Bert’. Inscribed on verso: Our own soldier boy ‘Bert’, enlisted 1.11.16, age 21 years and 5 months, Menangle Camp.
