He sailed with the 2nd reinforcements of the 3rd Battalion which he joined in Egypt. The 3rd Battalion landed at ANZAC Cove at 7.30am on 25 April 1915. Percy was wounded three days later and was evacuated to Britain. This letter was written while he was on board the hospital ship S.S. Goorkha.

Following his hospitalisation, Percy Morgan returned to Egypt and was sent to France in March 1916. In July he was involved in the attack on Pozieres and lost his life on 22 July 1916, shortly after he was promoted to Corporal.
