Born in 1924 Muriel Heginbotham commenced writing diaries at the age of 16, a practice she continued throughout her life. The diaries document her service in the AWAS (Australian Women’s Army Service) from 1943 to 1947; her years working and travelling (often by herself cycling and hitchhiking) in the UK and Europe, 1949-1953; the ups and downs of married life in Yowie Bay and Cronulla while working and raising 3 children and enjoying regular overseas trips; her divorce and subsequent life managing by herself.
