The Bentley Blockade was a community driven protest against plans for exploration for coal seam gas mining by the petroleum company Metgasco in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. The protest began in early 2014 in response to the plans of Metgasco to set up a gas drilling operation on a farm property in Bentley. The protestors set up a camp on a farm adjacent to the proposed site and blocked any access to the operation. In May 2014, the New South Wales Government suspended Metgasco's licence at Bentley after an audit found the company hadn't properly engaged in community consultation.
