AIDEX, the Australian International Defence Equipment Exhibition was held in Canberra from 26-28 November 1991. It was a military equipment expo for armaments manufacturers from around the world and military personnel and government officials from around the Pacific and Asia.

The Renegade Activist Action Force, a peace movement, was made up of unionists, churches, students, environmentalists, politicians and activists as a group to demonstrate against AIDEX.
