    To the Right Worshipful [?] Mayor of Melbourne

    Sir
    We the undersigned inhabitants of Melbourne [?] the unsettled [?] of a portion of the diggings and the necessity of taking measures for the better protection of this City and upholding the cause of law and order hereby request your Worship to [?] a public meeting of the Citizens without delay for the above purpose
