Dr. Gajdusek was awarded a Nobel Prize in 1976 for "new mechanism for the origin and dissemination of infectious diseases". He did the work in New Guinea. Gajdusek later became the Chief, Laboratory of Central Nervous System Studies for the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. - Scope and Content1979
