    The name of the writer of the Observations is unknown. Part of the narrative is in the 1st person singular, part in 3rd person, and again in 1st person plural. The manuscript was accompanied by a sketch map to which frequent references are given in the text, however the map was missing when the manuscript was acquired by the Mitchell Library.
