Annie Maria Hadden was born 24 November 1816 in Devon, England; married Andrew Baxter of the 50th Regiment; arriving 23 January 1835. After living in Tasmania, briefly in Sydney and Port Macquarie, N.S.W., Baxter resigned his commission and they worked cattle stations in New South Wales and Victoria namely Yesabba near Kempsey, N.S.W. and Yambuck near Port Fairy, Victoria. She left Baxter and lived with her brother in Tasmania June 1849-January 1851, then returned to England. Baxter died in 1855. In 1857 she arrived in Melbourne and married Robert Dawbin, later working Bongmire near Bochara, Springburn near Hotspur and Sinclair West, named Alcove by Annie Dawbin, adjacent to Springburn, all stations in Victoria. Dawbin was declared insolvent. She then lived in Melbourne, March 1862-8 April 1865 until returning to England. In 1865, having rejoined her husband, she voyaged to New Zealand. She died, childless, at South YanYean, Victoria, 22 November 1905. She published 'Memories of the past by a lady in Australia' in Melbourne in 1873
