    Rev. A. J. Small, 1854-1925, son of John Ling Small, was born in London in 1854. He arrived in Sydney in 1863, attended Newington College and was ordained in 1879, being immediately appointed to Bua on the island of Vanua Levu, Fiji. From 1884 he served on the island of Viwa for eleven years, next at Bau for eight years and then at Suva. In 1903 he was appointed Chairman of the Methodist Mission in Fiji
