  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Gilbert P. Whitley, 1903-1975?, ichthyologist, was on the staff of the Australian Museum, Sydney, from 1922.
    Johann Reinhold Forster was botanist on Captain James Cook's second voyage, 1772-1775.
    John MacGillivray was naturalist on two survey voyages around the Australian coast and New Guinea, firstly on HMS Fly under Captain Francis Blackwood, 1842-1846, and then on HMS Rattlesnake under Captain Owen Stanley, 1846-1850.
