no. 1. Circular plaster cast, 'Dame Mary Gilmore Award' in capital letters around perimeter, with right-facing relief profile of Gilmore. 14.9 x 14.7 cm.

no. 2. Circular plaster cast, gum nuts and leaves in relief. 8.1. cm x 8.2 cm.

nos. 3-6. Four circular bronze medals, right-facingrelief profile of Gilmore on obverse with 'Mary Gilmore Award' in capital letters around perimeter, gum nuts and leaves on reverse. Designs closely resemble those in nos.1 and 2. Diameter 7.5 cm.

nos. 7-8. Two brass? medals showing left-facing relief profile of unidentified elderly woman, probably Dame Mary Gilmore. 3.5 cm. diameter. Reverse surface partly ground away exposing bright metal.

Mary Gilmore Award accounts book at MLMSS 4778 includes entries for expenditures paid to S. C. Johns or Stan Johns for medallions supplied, 5 pounds, 9 September 1962; 20 pounds 8 shillings, 4 October 1962; 30 pounds, 11 December 1962; 17 pounds 10 shillings, 7 April 1966.

Accounts book shows expenditure of 15 pounds paid to George Luke for cast of medallion, 30 November 1961; it is not known whether this is a medal at R 2064.
