Arthur Bennett was a sheep farmer of Julong Station, Goulburn who joined the Royal Australian Air Force in 1940. He trained as a pilot in Canada and was posted to England in 1941 with the rank of Sergeant-pilot. He saw action as a fighter pilot flying spitfires before being transferred to Bomber Command. He then flew Wellington and Stirling bombers on raids over Germany and Italy. He was killed on 15 November 1941 while attempting a forced landing.
