    A. E. Tennent, a farmer from New Zealand, enlisted in the A.I.F. at Bendigo, Victoria on 30 Sept. 1916 aged 35 and embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT A38 Ulysses, 25 October 1916. He trained at Lark Hill, England and was sent to France and Belgium on 13 May 1917 with the 5th Battalion, 22nd Reinforcement. After the Armistice he was employed at the Australian General Base Depot at Le Havre, France, returned to Australia on the Prinz Hubertus, July 1919 and was demobilised on 1 Oct. 1919
