    Eric Whettam, station hand of Lewisham, N.S.W., enlisted Jan. 1915 as a trooper with 6th Light Horse Regiment, Australian Imperial Forces. He served in Egypt with the 1st Composite Cavalry Regiment, Western Frontier Force, Nov. 1915-Jan. 1916, with 15th Australian Field Artillery, 5th Division in France June 1916-Mar. 1917 and with 6th Australian Field Artillery Brigade in Flanders, Mar.-Oct. 1917. He was invalided in Oct. 1917 and returned to Australia in June 1918
