  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Samuel Wood was a wholesale bookseller and stationer who sold and printed postcards. He commenced a booksellers and stationer's business in Angel Place, Sydney in 1905 which moved to York Street and then 433 Kent Street, its final location during Wood's life. The business later moved to Pyrmont.

    Carlton Studios [i.e. "Carlton" Series] was based in Darlinghurst and photographed events and places in Sydney and its suburbs in the 1920's and 1930s. At least 6,000 images are known to exist.
