    John Francis Keary, motor mechanic was born in Dublin, Ireland and enlisted in Melbourne, Victoria at the age of 27, on 21 May 1915. He embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A61 Kanowna on 19 June 1915 and served with the 18th Battalion of the Australian Imperial Forces at Gallipoli and in northern France. He was wounded in action in France, 4 Oct. 1917
