    Laurie E. Hyder, a furniture packer of Melbourne, Vic. was born in Coleraine, New South Wales. He enlisted 17 Aug. 1914 and embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A20 Hororata, 19 October 1914. He served as a private in the 6th Battalion of the Australian Imperial Forces in Gallipoli and returned to Australia 15 August 1915.
  • Scope and Content
    Letter from Laurie E. Hyder to his mother, begun on the evening of the 27th July and finished the next morning. It was written from Luna Park Heliopolis in Egypt and posted from London, and describes his experiences including a graphic account of the landing at Gallipoli
