  Eugene Sullivan, a law clerk of Holdsworthy [i.e. Holsworthy], Sydney was born in Lismore, New South Wales. He enlisted at the age of 23 in the Infantry Oct. 27, 1915 in C Company, 9th Battalion, A.I.F. He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A74 Marathon, 4 May 1916 and served with the Australian Army Medical Corps, 9th Field Ambulance attached to 33rd Battalion in France and Belgium. He was hospitalised in France, July 1917 and died of wounds received in action in Belgium, 17 Oct. 1917
