textual material (1 page) - leaf of ships log handwritten in ink, pasted to back of drawing - 17.5 x 23.5 cm. - Collection historyExtract from Library Liaison Officer's Letter of 19th January, 1967 (ML 399/1967): "I am attaching a wash drawing titled 'H.M.S. Sirius weathering Tasman's Head' and signed Geo. Raper, 1791. To the back of the drawing is pasted what appears to be a page of a Log of the Sirius dated 23rd April, 1789 when the ship was at Tasman's Head. This is possibly Raper's own log as he was a mid-shipman on the Sirius at the time. I noticed the drawing in the window of some art dealers named Middleton at 231 King's Road, Chelsea, S.W. 3. Middletons said that they had acquired the drawing among some items which were being cleared out of an antique shop in the area."
