Scope and Content
1. `Macquarie Harbour from the East / T.J. Lempriere delt. 1835'. Watercolour. 9.8 x 16.8 cm. Signed and dated at lower left. Titled below image.
2. `Garden Island by H.D. Sen.'. Pencil. 15.3 x 24.3 cm. Initialled `H.D. Sen.' and titled at lower left in Sir William Dixson's hand.
3. `St. George's Bay / March 1862 / E.W.B.' at lower right. Watercolour. 18.5 x 27 cm. A pencil note below the picture on the original mount, in Sir William Dixson's hand reads `? Boulton.' although Boulton's initials are different. Attempts to locate St. George's Bay were inconclusive.
4. `Geelong 30th May 1854. Eugen von Guerard'. Ink and watercolour. 15.9 x 26.1 cm. Signed at lower right, dated and titled at lower left. On verso is an unidentified pencil sketch of a river scene.
5. `Gentlemen Convicts - The Centipede'. Unsigned. Dated `1830' on the verso. Titled below image. On the verso is a note in Sir William Dixson's hand which reads `by Lempriere, T.J. Deputy Assistant Commissary General.'
6. `Aborigines, Van Diemens Land'. Pencil. 11.8 x 17.1 cm. Unsigned. Dated `1830' on verso. Titled below image.
7. `The Bush Constable - fern Tree'. Pencil. 12.6 x 17.8 cm. Unsigned. Dated `1830' on verso. Titled below image.
8. `Church & Parsonage - Port Arthur'. Pencil. 12.7 x 17.8 cm. Unsigned. Dated `1830' on verso. Titled below image.
9. `Iron Pot Lighthouse - Van Diemens Land'. Pencil. 12.1 x 17.8 cm. Unsigned. Dated `1830' on verso. Titled below image. A pencil note in Sir William Dixson's hand which reads `Lempriere' was written on the original mount below the picture.
10. `Port Arthur'. Pencil. 12.2 x 18 cm. Unsigned. Dated `1830' on verso. Titled below image.
11. `The North Head from the Gap. The French Transport steaming out of Port Jackson'. Pencil. 20 x 25.1 cm. Signed `T' at lower left. Dated `May 17, 1868' and titled on verso, possibly in Terry's hand.
12. `Sketch from lower end of George St. / June 12/36'. Pencil. 19.9 x 30.4 cm. Unsigned. Dated and titled at lower left. `Sydney' written in ink below image. A note on the back in ink in similar hand to title reads `This sketch is the property of Harry Curtis. Korroongarra. Queensland.' Comparison with other sketches of Robert Russell's in his `Sketches in and near Sydney' (ML ref. PXA 71) indicate that this sketch is probably his work.
13. `Parramatta', ca. 1847+. Watercolour. 21 x 34 cm. Unsigned. Dated from a picture in similar style at f.14 in the same portfolio. Titled on verso in Sir William Dixson's hand.
14. `Parramatta', ca. 1847+. Watercolour. 22.8 x 39 cm. Unsigned. Dated from date of construction of Byrne's Cloth Mill shown at right (see Jervis, James. The Cradle City of Australia: a History of Parramatta 1788-1961. p.106. ML Ref. 991.2/3A1). Titled on verso in Sir William Dixson's hand.

20. `Pott's Point, Woolloomoo [sic] Bay, ca. 1850 / J. R. Roberts'. Signed at lower right. Dated and titled on original mount in Sir William Dixson's hand.
21. `Otira Gorge N.Z. / E. R.'. Grey wash. 28.2 x 39.3 cm. Signed and titled at lower left. Title was repeated on the original mount in a pencil note in Sir William Dixson's hand.
22. `Crossing place. Coal Falls near Ipswich / S. Diggles July 1869'. Pencil. 28.1 x 38.5 cm. Signed and dated at lower right. Titled at lower centre.
23. `The main Range (Cunningham's Gap) from Ipswich / S. Diggles July 1869'. Pencil. 2.3 x 49 cm. Signed and dated at lower right. Titled at lower centre.
24. `The Pilot boat, Sydney / S. Prout Hill 1842'. Watercolour. 26.3 x 37 cm. Signed and dated at lower left. Titled and dated on verso in Sir William Dixson's hand.
25. `Batman's House, Batman's Hill Melbourne / J.L.'. Watercolour. 23 x 34 cm. Signed at lower right. Titled on verso in Sir William Dixson's hand. Dated from another drawing by JL, f.27 in the same portfolio. A pencil note in Sir William Dixson's hand which read `Liardet?' was below the picture on the original mount.
26. `Old Customs House, Flinders and Market Sts, Melbourne / J.L.', ca. 1838? Watercolour. 21.2 x 34.3 cm. Signed at lower left. Dated from another drawing by JL, f.27 in the same portfolio. Titled on verso in Sir William Dixson's hand. A second title also in Sir William's hand which reads `The Falls on Yarra' was below the picture on the original mount.
27. `G.P.O. Flinders St, Melbourne, / J.L. 1838'. Watercolour. 22.4 x 35.5 cm. Signed and dated at lower right. Titled on the back in Sir William Dixson's hand.
28. [Rural scene]. Pencil. 22.4 x 28.3 cm. A pencil note on the left side of the original mount, in Sir William Dixson's hand, reads `On same page was one by Bennett, but no reason to connect them'. Comparison with other sketches by Martens at DL PX 24 indicates that this is probably his work.
