    Each album page has a protective flyleaf and there is a red-brown border drawn around each photograph.
    On most album pages, at the lower right of image, appears a handwritten "SH" and a number in pencil. This referes to the Government Printing Office file number, with "SH" denoting John Sharkey, who possessed a large number of Charles Pickering's negatives. -- Reference: Alan Clifford, Government Printing Office, 1985.
