The Church Missionary Society for Africa and the East was founded in London in 1799. the New Zealand Mission began in 1814 and the Australian mission in 1825. The New Zealand mission was known as The Australian Mission until 1841

M212: Sydney Corresponding Committee. Minutes 1821-41. Copies of minutes prepared for the English Society, arranged in order by the date of their receipt in London . M212-214: Bishop's correspondence 1830-80. Mainly letters to the Church Missionary Society Secretaries, but also letters to officials such as the Colonial Secretary. Minutes of Missionaries' meetings, with reports and accounts, 1823-77. M215: Sydney Corresponding Committee correspondence 1820-52, being letters to and from the New Holland Mission 1821-37, and between the Committee and missionaries and others, mainly in New Zealand, 1827-52. M215-216: Missionaries' joint reports 1836-58. Reports of the New Zealand mission stations, as well as personal reports; correspondence between missionaries and the New Zealand Mission secretary 1831-66
