  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    The Western Australia Gazette and General Advertiser was one of a series of early manuscript papers published in Perth and Fremantle. Issues were written by hand as the first printing press arrived in 1831. A number of handwritten copies would have been circulated. The Mitchell Library issues are the only surviving 'published' issues of these papers

    This volume contains three issues that include shipping intelligence (arrivals and departures), notice to advertisers, editorials, extracts from Parliamentary documents, announcements of births, wrecks, accidents, and poets corner.
